Frequently Asked Questions

What does a curl specialist do?

>

^

Nancy encourages you to embrace your curls whether you are new to the curl journey or you have an ongoing curl story. She will teach you how to make your curls thrive with healthy hair practices.

You will receive a customized dry cut to optimize your natural texture and advice on the optimal products. Other considerations are your unique curl type which includes:

  • texture

  • shrink factor

  • lifestyle

Don't be concerned that it is cut dry and at the angles you're asked to hold your head!!

How do I prepare for my appointment?

>

  • Please have first or second day hair using the products you normally would use to achieve your best curls.

  • It is important for your hair to be completely down, dry, and detangled.

  • Ensure that your hair is free from any tangles or pulled into ties, ponytails, or braids. Otherwise you may be asked to reschedule or additional fees may apply.

  • Avoid blowouts and flat ironing for two weeks prior to the appointment as that gives a false "readout' of the curls on the day of your cut.

  • Seeing the hair living in its natural state is of the utmost importance to get an honest cut.

How often should I cut?

>

^

Some curlies go a year between cuts, some every 2 months. It's as individual as your curls and your lifestyle. Generally the recommendation is once a season to keep it healthy and bouncy.

How do I make an appointment?

^

Call or text Nancy directly at 408.343.3844! Online booking is unavailable at this time.

Curly or straight?

>

^

Curly cuts are not meant to be worn straight as curls are not created equally and need to be cut with the true natural curl pattern in mind. Custom curl cuts are not compatible with the hair to be worn straight.

What can we do today?

>

^

Being honest and realistic about what services can be performed is important. Heat and chemically damaged, and broken hair take time to repair, and sometimes is irreparable.

How do I pay?

>

^

Nancy takes cash, checks, and all credit cards.

A reservation fee of 50% of the cost of your appointment is required for new clients and will be credited toward the cost of your service.
